Our Approach

YEAR ONE

CLassroom Training

During the first year, APLA students will learn and grow primarily in the classroom environment. Classes are taught four mornings a week (Tuesday through Friday).  Each week is taught in ‘seminar’ format – one theme per week –with a teacher that is an expert in their field.

prayer school

Students start each morning of the four classroom days with a one-hour prayer school: with a foundation of  worship, students learn how to pray with authority.

HANDS On Ministry

Students are required to engage in some type of outward activity each month, to apply practically what is being learned. Opportunities are presented for students to choose from, such as Street Evangelism, Homeless Ministry, Community Outreaches and many more. APLA is not just a “KNOW” school, it is really all about what we DO. They are also asked to find a campus or church plant to serve in and gain ministry experience on weekly basis.

Class Schedule

The APLA school year begins late August and runs through May. Classes are from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. This part-time schedule allows for students to easily balance their school assignments, jobs, and family responsibilities.

Year two & Beyond

Year One
Life and Spirituality Advancement Year

The first year of APLA happens primarily in the classroom. The goal is to help you grow in your character, in your leadership, in your prayer life, and in your Biblical literacy (Bible, ministry, leadership, theology).

Year two
Practicum Year

Those who graduate from the first year and are recommended are eligible to enter the second year of our leadership development process. A practicum is defined as the part of a course consisting of practical work in a particular field. Every student will have a chance to learn, study and get opportunities to serve and lead with the Youth Ministry, Kids Ministry, Production, Church Planting, Campus Pastoring, Worship Leading, and Non-Profit Community Ministry.

*As a student is continuing through the leadership development process, they can be continuing their studies toward a degree through the Southeastern University distance degree program.
